Basilisk

Alexander reigned, the whole world's power obtaining. Happened once that great army he gathered and one city sieged. And at the same location many soldiers and others without wounds he lost. But when over this he wondered, philosophers he summoned and said them: "O, masters, in what way might this be, that suddenly without wounds my soldiers die?" And they said: "Strange not is. For it is one basilisk over city's wall; him seeing, soldiers are poisoned and die." Alexander said: "How remedy is against basilisk?" And they said: "Put mirror elevated between army and wall where is basilisk; and when in mirror he sees, his reflection at him self returns and so he dies." And in this way Alexander's men killed the basilisk.
