Today is October 18th

 

Well this is the last one of these for just over a week. Thank you all for the comments and support on my previous blog. I figured I would post just one more before I go for yall to enjoy.

 

Today America hands over planns for the plutonium bomb. Being a nuclear power is no fun alone. John Lennon is fined with drug related charges.  One year later Paul Kanter is also charged with possesion. If you cant remember the sixties then yu werent really there. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is released today. A critic described the film as "a vile peice of sick crap", the film is soon after banned in Germany and the UK. This and more on...

The USSR's nuclear program receives plans for America's plutonium bomb, courtesy of secret agent Klaus Fuchs at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Oct 18 1968

A police raid nets 168 grains of dope resin in the apartment of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The couple is fined UKP 150.

Oct 18 1969

In Hawaii, Jefferson Airplane member Paul Kantner is charged with possession of Maui Wowie. "If you can remember anything about the sixties, you weren't really there."

Oct 18 1974

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, based loosely on Ed Gein's story and originally titled "Headcheese," opens in theatres. One critic describes the film as "a vile piece of sick crap," containing "unrelenting sadistic violence as extreme and hideous as a complete lack of imagination can possibly make it." The movie is later banned in Germany and the UK.
