Exactly how do you get into today's top 5 user,s spots?

i see diffrent users mostly everyday and they have 3 videos and nothign featuredso i have 2 questions how does one get into top 5 and if you get into top 5 do you recive points?

Is it done by random selection is the point of the top 5 spot just so more people will come see your submissions?
