A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or
her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance,
irrationality, and animosity
toward those of differing beliefs. The predominant usage in modern
American English refers to persons hostile to those of differing race,
ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, various mental disorders, or
religion.
Prejudices are abstract-general preconceptions or abstract-general attitudes towards any type of situation, object, or person.
I read these definitions and realized I am guilty of both. I am no judge and jury, but something tells me we are all guilty of being prejudicial bigots. I have had friends, business acquaintances, family members, neighbors , coworkers who would prove me a prejudicial bigot under certain conditions.
I do my best to judge a person on their actions, personal behaviors and choices but there are those situations that I must rely on my instincts, not because I have no interest or am lazy to understanding people, but mostly because asking people, who I do not know, their intentions seems inappropriate, if not just outright foolish.
When I was about twelve years old a black boy, maybe ten or eleven from another school, threatened me with a knife, I disarmed him, busted his knife and he ran home. Later that day I played football with my friends, some were black. Now when I see a black kid with a pissed off look on his face approach me I am cautious. I am in prejudicial bigot mode. When I see a black kid with a football I assume he is going to meet up with his buds and toss the pig skin. Again I am being a prejudicial bigot.
A few years later while walking the boardwalk along Toronto's beaches I came across some drugged up freaked out white dude, who accused me of calling his girl friend a slut. He pulled out a knife and threatened to kill me if I didn't apologize. Thinking if I admit to this accusation he might try to stab me, cause he was out of his mind, I denied it. Again I was a prejudicial bigot assuming this guy was nuts just because he was out of his mind threatening me with a knife. I don't remember what I said to settle him down, but we eventually sat down on a park bench and smoked a joint. As a result, when I suspect some white dude might be out of his freaking mind, I avoid contact. I'm such a fuckin' prejudicial bigoted asshole.
At the age of sixteen, a friend and I were looking to score a pound of weed. The source lived in a high rise that we never frequented, that was where the poor lived. At some point about ten black kids came out of the alley and threatened us, this was a while back and could actually be the first recording of a swarming in Canada, my friend and I, high on acid, challenged the fuckers and they disappeared like cockroaches. Excuse me for being a prejudicial bigot, but when I am in a low rental neighborhood and I see a gang of black dudes heading my way I get nervous.
Last year while working near China Town I decided to get a bowl of phoa ( Vietnamese soup) beside the cash was the cutest Vietnamese girl beaming the biggest flirtatious smile at me I had ever seen. You know the batting eyes, two hands entwined between her knees as she looked up at me. At first I was, proud as a peacock and blushed like a pomegranate thinking she was attracted to me. I was being a prejudicial bigot. Why would this sweet young thing want to be with me? Of course, she wanted my money. Did she? Most likely, she did. Again I am being a prejudicial bigot.
I have very little experience flying in aircraft, but from all the hype I hear from news media it might be wise to be observant of any unusual behavior. It has been reported that Muslim extremist flew planes into the Twin towers. It has been reported that Muslim extremist flew a plane into the Pentagon, (the most highly secured building in the world). Personally, I think it is all bullshit, but if I believed it I would definitely be a prejudicial bigot of the nth degree.
Ban the burka!
Cause it freaks me out while flying trans Atlantic.
I am a self confessed prejudicial bigot! FIRE MY ASS!
