Internet misogyny is deadly
So by now we're all aware that Elliot Rodgers was the son of a Hollywood co-director, he went on a shooting and stabbing rampage that left 3 men stabbed to death and 6 sorority girls shot down.
What's still not clear to most is the motive, was he simply a psychopath seeking out an excuse to kill, or was he a misogynist who's sole desire was to punish women for rejecting him? My answer is - both.
It's now been found out that Elliot Rodgers frequented misogynist websites. These websites are highly anti-woman, even going so far as to say women are "sub-human" and are meant to be "raped", that we even WANT to be raped...I'll stop there, before I vomit in my mouth. These are the kinds of despicable things Elliot Rodgers was reading on a daily basis. Fueling his hate and feeding his psychosis.
I believe that internet misogyny CONTRIBUTED to the killings of these young women, and the young men that "got in his way" were tragically killed in an even more brutal way. I believe that internet misogyny, as I've said many times before, has run rampant. I think such hate sites need to be banned. To be a man, and want equality in the court system is one thing, to be a man and despise women to the point that you feel they're subservient sub-humans who deserve rape is COMPLETELY another.
If Elliot Rodgers did not have a supportive community of like minded sickos, would he have had the push needed to carry out these vicious attacks? I believe it would of been a lot harder for Elliot Rodgers to muster up the courage to target and kill innocent young woman had he not been apart of the anti-woman internet scene. Elliot Rodgers felt he deserved sexual encounters from women. That they should of fell at his feet and unclothed for him. These ideas were approved and supported by chauvinists, and sadly innocent women died at the hands of these ideals.
