Is gravity and time really directly proportional? 8 beers and 2

we have theories that gravity and time are directly proportional. Let me get this theory strait, is it relative to the size of the planet? or the star in which it orbits around? If a star has more gravity, does the planet orbit around it faster? and what i wonder is, according to what we think, time goes by slower if there is less gravity apparently.  i agree and dissagree how could time go by faster all the sudden in an area with higher gravity? does it mean a nail in a jar of water will grow rust faster if it is placed in a place of higher gravity? I wouldnt think so at all (8 beers and 2 hours of the discovery channel)
