Laptop external speakers-WTF
Alright so I'm lyin in bed the other night listening to music on my laptop through headphones. Well I was dead tired so I fell asleep in a matter of seconds. As I'm dozing I hear this loud THUD! I wake up like WTF and soon realize that it was probably my laptop. I think to myself aw shit. I look down on the right side of my twin bed on the floor and there is my laptop sitting on its side. (This has happened once before and it was okay) so I flip it back to its rightful resting position and fall straight back asleep since I had to work in like 2 hours.
So a few days later I notice the little black plastic usb cap that covers the 4 metal prongs is missing and now one of my usb ports won't work. After noticing this my music starts cutting out when I play it and eventually I receive no sound from my laptops built in speakers...so on to what I came to say.
Because of this I order some well reviewed laptop usb external speakers. I get the things finally and I plug the things into my laptop...they install very quickly. I click the volume buttons up and down a few times (not sure how many up or downs I did) and eventually say okay, lets see what these babies can do. I open up iTunes and play Motown Never Sounded so Good by Less than Jake. (GREAT SONG) As soon as I hit play I get absolutely blasted with sound which was surprising as hell coming from these tiny speakers. So I immediately turn them down. Next thing I know the right speaker seems inaudible. I'm thinkin maybe the artist intended that but as I put my ear close to the speaker I can still hear the music its just really quiet. I take the damn thing apart hoping somehow I could see the problem even though I have no electrical experience. I open it up see nothing so I push on some wires (maybe they got jiggled, who knows) then I close the thing up, plug it back in. I play the same song again (after turning down the volume =D). Voila! It works! For 2.5 seconds before it goes to its muffled setting while the left speaker blasts me away with sheer perfection and loudness. I take the things apart a few more times but same stuff happens over and over again so I gave up.
I considered returning the things, but I feel I am somewhat at fault so I'm making due with the one awesome speaker. So be careful when buying new speakers. I hope your experience is more enjoyable than mine.
