As some of you may know Michael Crichton died recently from cancer. I was shocked to see how little coverage his death received in the media. Instead I saw more useless information being thrown at me about what celebrities are doing lately. It is sickening to me to realize that what these news channels cling to for ratings is the mundane day to day lives of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Crichton is best known for being responsible for the story of Jurassic Park. I know that for me his book and the film based on it brought dinosaurs to life and made me realize how interesting the past of our planet can be. I dont think I have been more excited about a movie than when I was watching the dinosaurs from my imagination appear on the big screen. He was an author, director, producer for film and tv, doctor, and a graduate of harvard. He wrote over twenty-five novels and wrote screenplays as well as directed movies and television shows. He was obviously a very accomplished person and I believe that he deserves more respect by the media. Our culture needs to stop obsessing over celebrities and focus on what matters. A man passed away that stoked the imagination of millions and all we can focus on is the idiotic crap that comes out of the mouth of the average movie star. I truly believe that we lost one of the great story tellers of our time when Michael Crichton died , and I know that he deserves your respect and acknowledgement for his works. Stop feeding celebrities the attention they desperately beg for. Stop focusing on the trivial and superficial lives of attention whores. Stop idolizing the greed and conceitedness of hollywood. FOCUS on what matters in your life, and show respect for the people who deserve it.
