Nostalgia

I know, I like to write a lot about this subject, but it's true. When I was younger, I never thought that I would some day be sitting around talking about the good old days, but the more years of college I get behind me, the more I realize how much I was just bullshitting myself.

This time, it's cartoons.

Yes, cartoons, the bane of our existence, and yet, everything we grew up on. I remember the likes of Ren and Stimpy, Ah! Real Monsters, Doug, Rugrats, the works. Nickelodeon was THE SHIT. I never was a fan of Disney or Cartoon Network because it was all girly and shitty, except for Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab, and the like. Just a few shows. I used to LIVE for the days when I could fake sick and stay home to watch cartoons.

These days? I wish I could say the same. Sometimes I skip class and try to watch cartoons, but I just can't bring myself to finish them. Spongebob Squarepants was the only recent show I could really like and laugh at, but even that's going down the drain. All the old shows have either been bastardized or they're gone, just plain gone.

I can't laugh at the TV any more! What happened to the good old days, the good old cartoons? Why have they been scrapped? Is it just that this new generation is horrible and has a bad sense of humor?

One thing's for sure, when I have kids, I am stocking up on DVDs of banned Looney Tunes cartoons, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Ah! Real Monsters, Doug, and everything else I can think of that I grew up on, while I smash and disable the cable connection to my child's bedroom.
