Religion
Well, The topic hasn't been spoken of in a while and I haven't written about anything controversal in an even longer time. The result of which is blog. It may be long so if you don't want to read it, bugger off. For those of you who do, shut up, sit down and listen to my rant.
This is more of a challnge to those who do not have a religion. I've been in somewhat of a comment war with poppeleseed (I am NOT intending this to be a battleblog, so put your ePenises away. You can whip it out to bash each other senseless later...no-homo)about the subject as to whether my religion, Christianity, is true or not. And he seems to be using the same arguements I've been hearing every non-religious individual say: "How do you know it's true?"
You want to know my answer? I DON'T!! It's true, I DON'T know, but that's the basis of the whole damn religion, not knowing and yet still believing. Now at this point, most of you are saying "Couldn't that be compared to...being BRAINWASHED?" Well...it COULD be if it weren't for the simple fact that when you're brainwashed, you have absolutely no control over your position on the subject your being brainwashed of. How is this NOT like Christianity? You can leave whenever the fuck you want!! I don't care if you decide to unchristianify yourself, it's your life.
By this time, what I've written has already pissed most you off, and some of that most will just skip this one part to make a comment about "the good book" "pedophile preachers" and "evangelising church ladies". Well guess what...those things AREN'T the examples of Christianity you should be looking at when analyzing the religion.
A). The good book was written by RICH MEN 1500 years ago when it was written as a rough draft and then, for the next 1400 or so years, it could only be read by the 1 person who was the priest, who could read the language the Bible-er-good bookwas written in, could read the damn thing and make any interpretation he wanted. What does that mean? It means it SHOULDN'T be taken as LAW. The smart Christians, who, ironically, are the ones who like to keep their trap shut about the subject unless provoked, KNOW that and will NOT be taking what it says to heart.
B). Pedophile preachers...the BIGGEST argument nonreligious people have. Well guess what...it's been gone for over a good while now. I don;t know how long exactly, I will admit that, but do you notice the lack of cases involving those foot-'scuse me-child loving preachers? It doesn't happen anymore. I know it doesn't magicallt make it go away and erase it from the history books, but it's GONE. We're not too happy about the fact that it happened, but if you take the time to look at EVERY Religion, you'll see some sort of blemish on their record that the higherups like to keep a secret. What's the difference between them and our Religion? The happening that effecting us just so happened to have happened within the last 50 years. Is it our fault? Well, not OUR fault, it's more of a THEIR fault, but do you honestly think we were PROUD of that specific era of time. Hell no.
C). Evangelising church ladies. You love to hate the CRAP out of these people. And yes, I hate them to, as does everyone else. You know why? I'm sure you do because you've experienced at least once on a trip to Wally World one Sunday, but I'll tell you anyway. It's because they like to himiliate and frighten you by using God as an excuse. The humiliation comes from the overbearing "I didn't see you at church this morning. I hope you have fun in hell." and the fear comes from them telling our fragile little four year old minds that if we even THINK a bad thought, it gets stored in Gods big bad book forever, without any hope of forgivness, meaning we go straight to Hell do not pass Go do NOT collect $200. You all want to know something? That is not a Christian attitude. I'll explain. We all know God as the ultimate judge when it comes to our sins, which means he has the power to forgive and forget as well as the power to send up to eternal damnation. Who are they to tell us we're going to hell? Isn't that God's decision? And why is it that our thoughts, that could very well damn us for eternity, get written down in ink while the mass we just attended told us that God forgives? Contradiction much? I think you can see the point of this one, which is that they piss us off as much as they do you. Redicule them all you want, but they are anything but Christians.
You want to know my feelings towards the religion and the reason I stayed long enough to be confirmed? Because the church, as a community, is like a second family to me. It's a place where I can go to not be judged as a "nerd" "virgin" or "band-geek". I like the feeling of community that comes along with it. I could care less about the lessons involving what Jesus did when, I can learn all that in Heaven from Jesus himself where he could answer questions like Was there really a 13th apostle named Rufus?Or was everyone really only about as tall as a midget 2000 years ago?
There you go, I just poured all of my thoughts about some of the arguments non-religious individuals have about my religion and even gave you my view on the religion I believe in. Yeah, it does look like I just slammed the crap out of my religion, but I don't care. You need to learn to laugh at your own religion sometimes. The "Rock me sexy Jesus" air-freshener I got hanging in my car is a reminder of that. SO I leave you all with this last final question. "How do you know I'm wrong?"
Ok, rants pretty much over, you can go back to your daily lives of living in your hilltop mansions, driving your 15 cars to your multi-million dollar jobs to come home tothe double-d equipped wives we all know you have. Good gay, and I hope I pissed the crap out of some of you.
EDIT~~Ok, I don't really have all night to wait around for you guys to flow your hate into a convenient 300 word comment. I be back to check up on your responses later. 'night.
