Sombreros Banned Because College Thinks They're Racist

After deeming sombreros racist, the University of East Anglia, England, has outlawed student use of sombreros.  They also ordered the staff at Pedro’s Tex-Mex Cantina to stop issuing the sombreros as a promotional item.

Banning promotions means that the Tex-Mex restaurant has to sell its food based on taste alone, which is a harsh punishment for an English restaurant.  One quick glance at Pedro’s menu here will show you that while the traditional sombreros have been banned, garlic bread, chili, and monterey-jack burgers are still available.  How exactly does the PC police decide what things to ban?  Hats are offensive, but the garlic bread is too delicious to pass up?  Or more specifically, why is it racist for you to leave with a free sombrero, but it’s fine for you have a to-go menu with this logo?

I like to think that universities are still a bastion of creative higher thinking.  But it's hard when they say a Mexican restaurant with actual Mexican traditional attire is an act of “discriminatory or stereotypical language or imagery aimed towards any groups or individuals.”

Basically, what I mean is, please give me my free fucking sombrero.  With a side of your best Mexican garlic bread.
