The Elder Scrolls: Online - an epic failure?
But what did you expect from a game that was supposed to be kinda like Skyrim and kinda like WOW - but lacking the cool stuff that you liked in Skyrim. Meaning: vast open lands to explore, a lot of interesting quests and factions and great story line.
What did you get in TESO? Millions of dollars pumped into graphics, voice actors and a lot of shit that didn't compensate for the game's meagre storyline, quest line, combat system or chaotic interface.
This would probably not be such a disaster if not for Bethesda's aspirations to declass World Of Warcraft, which lead them to pay up a huge sum for TESO's budget, which was supposed to be paid back with a lot of profit, from the subscriptions. How did it work? People were like "meh," too expensive and it's kinda shitty.
It's like Ferrari decided to make a new car but this time it wouldn't be a sports car. It would be a Ferrari's attempt to declass a Volkswagen Golf. You'd be promised to get everything you love about Ferrari.... but the only thing you'd receive that matches Ferrari standards would be the name and the price. Cause you'd pay a fortune for a Ferrari that's ugly, doesn't really compete with a golf cause its new, supposedly genius, aspects and innovations are either confusing or plain wrong. You'd have to pay an exorbitant price for a shitty car that's a pain to drive, because its manufacturer paid billions to produce it.
As it turns out, The Elder Scrolls Online is a terrible misunderstanding. The stuff people were excited about have been announced to become a DLC later, long before TESO premiered. Cause, you know, you'd pay for a DLC later, why would you get a full product right away?
