Eduard Khil, well-known Russian baritone vocalist, passed away in a hospital in St. Petersburg last night after suffering a stroke in May. He was better known as the "Trololo" singer, or the man who got a song stuck in the entire internet's head, causing people worldwide to strut with an exaggerated arm swing, waving to random strangers, and pointing and laughing at invisible things.
While his success later in life may have been a bit at his expense, he made the world smile. I can say with all sincerity that I was sad to hear the news. Seeing him in a recent interview led me to believe he'd enjoy many more years of health and vitality. Alas, it was not meant to be. R.I.P. Mr. Khil.
