Thinking about it, there have been millions of songs made and it's hard to choose which ones are the best and our favorites.  Each decade of music has brought us something different to listen to from early rock in the 50s and 60s to hip-hop, pop, rap, and modern rock of today.  To make it easier, finding your favorite genre or genres of music would be the best idea.  Whether it's the lyrics or the beat itself people like, these are what make people like a particular song.  Today, listening to music has become so convenient with iPods and cellphones letting us have music on them.  Personally, I like a mix of rock, heavy metal, hip-hop, R & B, pop, 90s music, and 80s music.  However, so many good and memorable songs have been made that you don't know where to start in selecting your favorite song.
