Okay, I'm showing my age here, but who remembers when "the Flintstones" were still a regular feature on TV?

They were such a common icon that you would see other movies or shows having guys argue who was hotter...Wilma or Betty?

But that was hardly new. After all, there were plenty of 'who is hotter; Betty or Veronica' arguments out there and those were going on long before Archie ever made it to animation. And the reason that you saw arguments like that was because they were a common half-hearted joking-around-with-the-guys way of shooting your mouth off without really saying anything.

Then when Josie and the Pussycats came along that gave a whole BAND of girls to argue about...which, frankly, was necessary as not to many people were taking up the Daphne versus Velma argument.

But then that seemed to fade. It echoed a little bit with 'who's hotter; Pink Ranger or Yellow Ranger?' but the whole concept seemed to have lost steam and volume.

Could it be that things have become so sexually ambiguous? Are we entering a po-mo ennui of sexuality?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems there are no more icons like that. Or does someone have a 'household name versus' that could actually spark a debate anymore?

Without getting into that whole creepy internet slash porn crap.
