Lawrence of Rome was roasted alive in 258 A.D on top of a grill. Apparently, he yelled out to his torturers “Turn me over, I’m done on this side!”. He is now the patron saint of cooking. No joke. -

Edward II of England was murdered by his wife Isabella and her mistress Roger Mortimer in 1327. They roasted his internal organs by sticking a hot metal rod up his butt. The level of wrong involved in this death is staggering. -

Adolf Frederick is known to Swedish children as “the king who ate himself to death.” The ruler died eating a meal that consisted of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, smoked herring and champagne. But it was the desert that sent him over – all 14 servings of it. -

Phillip McClean, a 16-year-old Australian boy, was killed by a cassowary. He and a friend though it would be funny to beat one with a hammer, but it promptly responded by knocking the boy down and cutting a major blood vessel in his neck. Karma strikes swiftly sometimes. -

A Scottish writer known as Thomas Urquhart died from a serious laughing fit in 1660. Apparently, he found it hilarious that Charles II had become king. -

British actor Gareth Jones died while performing a televised version of Underground in 1958. Jones suffered a heart attack backstage, which wouldn’t be odd if it weren’t for the fact that the character he was playing died the same way. -

In 1974, a health food advocate named Basil Brown died after consuming 10 gallons of carrot juice in 10 days. Too much of anything is a bad thing, and that definitely includes vitamin A. -

Mike Edwards, a cello player for the Electric Light Orchestra, was killed in 2010 when a bale of hay rolled down a hill and crushed him. -

In 2014, an unlucky Belarusian man attempted to take a selfie with a beaver. The beaver didn’t seem very pleased with this and chomped down on an artery in the man’s leg. The man bled out moments later.
