Fake news is nothing new. 

Publishers have been making up crazy headlines from the very beginning of the newspaper age, and back then no one knew anything about the world, they could genuinely get crazy with what they wrote. 

Vintage papers were writing about alien invasions, ghosts, satan worshippers, and whatever else they might have heard about. Anything to scare your grandparents into buying a copy was fair game.
