Everybody knows that fireworks are dangerous, but for some reason, people keep thinking they can set up their own display to rival New York City. The unfortunate consequences are thousands of firework and 4th of July celebration related injuries. These doctors, nurses and first responders on Ask Reddit decided to share their worst 4th of July horror stories in preparation for America's Independence Day. 

This gallery is full of dumb decisions, but one of the worst has to be a group of 19 and 20-year-olds who decided to make an empty coffee tin more explosive by stuffing it full of fireworks. The group then proceeded to set those off, not giving nearly enough space between themselves and what was now a shrapnel grenade. "They were all lucky nobody was seriously injured," the doctor wrote. "But, it sobered them up pretty quickly."
