It's Live Rats, Rats, and more Rats at this wacky San Francisco restaurant. In addition to all you can drink coffee, tea, and beverages, your 50 bucks will get you a serving of WTF, as rats have free reign of the place.

Launched in 2017, The 'Rat Cafe' was opened to give people a taste of extraordinary, while educating them about domesticated pet rats. One woman said "it was funny and horrifying at the same time." -

"Drinking coffee while a rat is on the loose? That's not for the faint of heart," a statement from a Rat Cafe 'Dungeon' spokesman acknowledges. -

For those worried about pesky food safety and hygiene codes, a health agency confirmed the dungeon will follow all food service rules, and that food will be cleared out before the rats are allowed into the "cafe." -

The rats are all sourced from rat rescue nonprofit, Rattie Ratz, based out of Clayton. The rats are assumed to all be well-behaved, and should one of the "Ambassador Rats" strike your fancy and you find yourself wanting one as a pet — Rattie Ratz also does adoptions. -

It's supposed to be an intentionally confusing experience: sit in a nice bistro-style eatery with a Barbary Coast theme with rats scurrying around. -
