      • I guess to some degree you could say that, but common sense and reason would tell you that this loot system is different than picking up a few different kinds of mushrooms, wouldn't you? And again, if you actually own the game, which I'm doubting, please come play with me. I'd love the company.

      • Good point. But restricting the genre of rpg to a certain style of skill system is just as flawed. A more proper definition would be a game in which you occupy such a role and are able to customize said character to the extent that they become your own. The randomization of loot that you pick up allows you to build a unique, one of a kind character that literally no other RPG can boast of. Any other game falls to cookie cutter build strategies. "Diablo is a game of viable builds, not optimal ones". It just customizes characters in a unique way, just as any other game does. It happens to do that mostly through loot. Doesn't change what it does. Do you play D3 anyway? PM me your battletag, I wanna watch you die.

      • Bethesda should invest their time into remaking Morrowind with Skyrim graphics. Then they can resign having made the best rpg around.

      • You must be drunk, and/or desperate for more comments and views by keeping these going. Diablo is a maximum of 4 players in coop at any given time. No other players occupy a campaign. There goes mmorpg, which it is clearly not. Only an idiot or a troll (or in your case, both) would say such a thing. A role playing game is one in which you occupy (take a guess) a role. Such as a wandering barbarian, bent on avenging his brethren. Or a witch doctor, outcast from his tribe and seeking justice by vanquishing Evil. Etc. You can look at any of these games and point to the skill system or art or whatever and say "This makes it role-playing, anything else is moot" but you'd be wrong. That is just stupid logic (by which, you contradict yourself). Go find any dice-wielding basement dweller, watch them throw those die for a good attack, and tell me they aren't engaged in a role playing game when they shout "Golgathor will smite you!" after they hit that 20.

      • I said skill point system (i.e. attributes like strength, charisma, intelligence, wisdom etc.) Everyone complained about it, where were you? Thank you Bear, I appreciate it.

      • Ha, 2010. Do what you can, but at the very least, don't write stuff that looks copy/pasted. That last Diablo 3 blog seemed so stiff to me, and was poorly thought out (Skyrim was the first Elder Scrolls to ditch the skill point system for a dumbed down version, yet you blast D3 for the same basic idea? C'mon n00b, go play some Morrowind). I doubt you can carry the team, but maybe, just maybe, you can create enough alts to give the impression that this site is not dead.

      • My lack of presence here denotes a D3 addiction. Cons: Fairly short game, with only loot and difficulty levels to keep you going. Pros: Interesting customization concepts (leveling, loot crafters/affixes, randomized dungeons/monster affixes). The variety of every play through is quite a treat. If you fail to grasp the elegant simplicity of the leveling system, that is your problem. You've clearly been dinking around in Normal where those choices don't matter (beat every boss in less than a minute, pushover stuff). Try telling me the higher difficulties aren't more challenging than Skyrim's terrible combat glitches. They require thought, through customization. You don't know what you are talking about.
