Tenants Say Landlord Is Trying to Kick Them Out Using a Dead Fish
Landlords really are the worst, huh?
There are few jobs on this earth as pointless as a landlord. Most landlords spend fewer than 40 hours per month managing all of their properties, and for that minimal effort, they’re compensated with 30 percent of your income (bare minimum).
This would be slightly better if they were good at their job. Unfortunately, as anyone who’s ever rented can tell you, they’re not. Despite this, they raise rent by anywhere from 3 to 18 percent annually. What a great system this is!
Some cities have responded to landlords’ tendency to jack up prices by instituting rent price controls, where landlords either can’t raise rent or can only raise it by a limited amount. Landlords hate this, as it requires them to get an actual job — and so, as this video shows, they sometimes fight back against their tenants. In this case, they decided to try to get them out by (allegedly) filling vacant units with rotting fish to stink up the building.
