  - Ummm....no. The ONLY thing you can know for certain when someone says they're an Atheist is that they reject the idea of a god. How is it arrogant to not believe something that has ZERO evidence to support it? With your logic, it would be arrogant of you to not buy my claims that my cat speaks perfect english, and that I ride a unicorn to my Friday poker games with the easter bunny.

  - Except that that isn't even true either. I'm not sure of exactly where it is, but there is a quote that basically says that he came to enforce the old testament and nothing is to be changed.

  - Faith by definition is believing in something without evidence. And bullshit she can't get comfort from anywhere else. There is nothing that religion can do that can't be achieved through secular means. Show her the riddle of Epicurus and see how she feels about it then.

I couldn't agree more with what you said because really, there simply is no need for it to continue, especially in today's world.
